M BUTTERFLY is a play written by American Playwright & Screenwriter David Henry Hwang. This could be coming to London’s West End at some point in the future.

M BUTTERFLY explores cultural conflict, imagination and ego among other themes.

M BUTTERFLY premiered at the National Theatre, Washingston DC in February 1988 , opening on broadway a month later closing in 1990.  The play also had run in Moscow, Russia from 1990 till 1992 directed by Roman Viktyuk. M BUTTERFLY was has a Broadway revival in 2017 at the Court Theatre, New York. This production has won multiple awards including the 1988 Tony Award for Best Play.

M. Butterfly tells the love story between René Gallimard, a sexually insecure minor French diplomat, and Song Liling, a diva from the Chinese opera, a man who pretends to be a woman
