DEATH OF A SALESMAN is a two-act tragedy first premiered on Broadway in 1949, with a number of notable productions played worldwide including in London’s West End.
Written by American playwright Arthur Miller, who wrote other famous plays such as The Crucible and All My Sons, DEATH OF A SALESMAN played a stunning 742 performances on Broadway from February 1949, a production which won the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama along with the Tony Award for Best Play.
Recent London productions include the first Royal Shakespeare Company production in 2015 at the Noel Coward Theatre, directed by Gregory Doran as part of the centenary celebrations for Arthur Miller, which then ran through until early 2020 at the Phoenix Theatre starring Sharon D Clarke and Wendell Pierce. The success of these productions makes it likely that the play will return to the London stage some time in the future.
